ASBESTOS (PRO 5) TOTAL LOSS SERVICES

Claims involving floods and/or fires will sometimes result in the presence of asbestos. When this situation arises, and testing permits for a Procedure 5 protocol, almost all contents are considered contaminated and deemed a loss. At that time, an inventory of the insureds personal property is needed so they can be reimbursed for their loss. These inventories are commonly conducted by the abatement company that handles the remediation and removal of asbestos. Those employees are not trained on how to prepare a proper total loss list. In other cases, the abatement company will work with an inventory team from another company by holding items up to a peek hole window. This process increases the time and cost of an inventory. under California State Law, CAL OSHA requires anyone working within a PRO 5 asbestos contaminated area to take a 40-hour supervisor or 32-hour worker certification course. Each employee at C.C.R. has taken the state required certification course. Rather than pay two companies to conduct an inventory through the standard costly process, C.C.R. can enter a PRO 5 area alone
to conduct the inventory.
